Building Project Update 4/18/2011 The building project structure can be broken down into three areas: Construction, Capital Campaign and Financial Overview. For some time now we have been working on the construction piece of it. And from that hard work, we have a schematic, model, overall project description and a construction summary. As we move into the Capital Campaign, our focus will be to raise the necessary monies to fund the construction. The third piece, Financial Overview, functions to manage the monies raised by the Capital Campaign and spent by the Construction. The following are the current happenings in each area: Construction: · Updated the schematic, model, project description and construction summary to reflect the changes in how the sanctuary needs are handled. They also reflect the addition of transepts in the sanctuary. · In a BPC report to the Council, Dave Willey discussed the timeline for construction. It was determined that the construction would be best served if it was done in the spring of 2012. This allows Zion to focus on the capital campaign, receive pledges and to do most of the construction in warm weather. Additional work on the construction aspect of the project is on hold.
Capital Campaign: · We have three very talented Co-Chairs: Dick Gyllstrom, Jeff and Amy Drake. Our Co-Chairs met with Greg Swan of Mark Davy & Associates to discuss leadership, themes and timelines. The Capital Campaign is expected to take four months – ending in late August. The Campaign requires several committees: Education, Youth, Prayer, Recruitment and Visitors. (See Campaign Flow Chart for more info.) There are lots of opportunities to help, so if you are interested, please chat with one of our Co-Chairs. Look for more information on the Capital Campaign in the coming weeks.
Financial Overview: · The description and responsibilities of the Financial Overview team are in the process of being put together. The team itself has yet to be selected. If you are interested, please let Dave Willey know.
Finally, to provide multiple avenues of communication look for a new Building Project Bulletin Board in the fellowship hall in the coming weeks. |
