Listed below are just a few of the programs, committees, and ministries which Zion offers:

Action Groups:  Every member of Zion is assigned to an action group which serves one month every year.  Each action group supplies ushers, greeters, lay readers, flowers, helps with funerals, serves coffee and provides cookies/bars after services during that month. Click on this link - Action Group for additional details.

Helping Hands:  This organization of volunteers is primarily concerned with projects of a temporary nature such as clean-up after severe storms, errands for shut-ins, transportation for doctor appointments, delivery of meals, letter writing, companionship type visits, etc. Click on the following link for a complete list of specific items - Helping Hands

Mary, Ruth, & Dorcas Circles: Members of these three groups of WELCA meet monthly for Bible study, fellowship, and serve at special church events sponsored by WELCA.

Mission Trips: Contact the Mission Committee or Pastor Jim if you are interested in Mission trips.

Mission Jamaica

Prayer Shawl Ministry:  Care and love of knitting and crocheting have been combined into a ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.  The prayer shawl is intended as a wrap of comfort and love.  If you like to knit or crochet we encourage you to join us and be a part of this ministry.  We usually meet once a month.  Refer to the church calendar for dates and time.

Contact the church office if you know of anyone whom you would like to give a shawl to.

Quilting:

Quilting is open to anyone experienced or not.  We meet every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. October through March.  Refer to the calendar for changes to the schedule.

In 2011, we distributed our quilts to the Battle Lake Food Shelf, Salvation Army, Richville Methodist Church, Someplace Safe, Lakeland Mental Health, Lutheran Social Services, and Lutheran World Relief.

Thanks to all of you who supply us with sheets, fabric, jeans, and money and all who support us at the Memorial Day Breakfast.  We couldn't do it without you!

Please remember us when you are cleaning closets or going to garage sales.  We are always in need of good sheets and pillow cases (any size), fabric pieces and jeans.

Why not join our group!  Click on this link for pictures.

Stephen Ministry:

A Stephen Minister is...

...a child of God who walks beside a person who is hurting or suffering from divorce, ill health, death of a loved one, isolation or loneliness, job loss, depression or anxiety.

...a congregation member with gifts for care-giving.

...a lay person who has received 50 hours of training in providing emotional and spiritual care.

...a caring Christian friend who listens, cares, prays, supports, and encourages.

...someone who will "be there" for his or her care receiver, meeting faithfully for about an hour each week, for as long as there is a need.

For more information contact Pastor Jim or Marc Wing.  All inquiries will be held in the strictest of confidence.

Time & Talents:  God has blessed each of us with many gifts.  How do you use your gifts?  How do you manage them?  As stewards, we are managers of these gifts from God.  To manage them is to share them.  How do you share your gifts?  At Zion there are a lot of ways to share your gifts – no matter what your gifts are.

Now take a few minutes to review the opportunities on the Time & Talents Form.  Print the form.  Circle those that are of interest to you.  If something is of interest that is not listed, just write it down!  Please note that if you check an interest, there is the possibility you may be contacted by someone in the congregation who has a similar interest or has a question about your interest.  It is a great way to connect with people.

Thank you for being a steward of God’s gifts!   Time & Talents Form

WELCA (Women of the ELCA): WELCA is composed of all the women of Zion, and sponsors events to promote fellowship among female members and support mission/outreach work.

The purpose of the WELCA: As a community of women, created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in ministry and action, in the church, in society, and in the world.
